One building block
An amino acid is a small molecule. Think of it as a bead: connect several beads and you begin to make a chain.
- 02
A chain with an order
A peptide is a chain of amino acids joined by peptide bonds. The order of its building blocks matters—not all peptides are the same.
- 03
A message a cell can receive
Some peptides carry messages. A receptor is a protein that recognizes a signal and helps a cell respond. Not every peptide fits every receptor.
A mechanism is a starting point—not a treatment recommendation.
When you open a profile, ask what was studied, whether the findings came from humans or a laboratory, and what remains uncertain.
