Analytically, the assay does not differentiate endogenous ANP from exogenous carperitide; reported concentrations therefore reflect total ANP. The methods specify that included studies evaluated carperitide relative to placebo among acute heart failure patients. During carperitide therapy, ANP concentrations were assessed in both breast milk and maternal blood in two reported cases.
